lyrics
Verse
When I was so much younger, not so long ago.
I looked around and decided, I didn't fit societies mold.
So I went searching, for a place to belong,
Where I didn't feel so wrong.
Then I met some people who seemed to be like me,
With their peace & love, and desire to being free.
So I tie-dyed my shirts, put beads in my hair, Went all the way,
I became... a hippy that day.
Chorus
But I couldn't eat granola and lay down in the hay,
Letting the world around me waste away, oh no.
Didn't want their debt, their drugs, their weak-ass code.
Any of that shit, So I said..."Fuck off"
Verse
So I got a little older, just trying to tune in,
to something, I could believe in.
So I started listening to industrial goth, dressed all in black,
Hanging out in cemeteries, thought I would never look back.
Then I met some people, fellow children of the night,
We banded together, ready for societies fight.
Wearing make-up and trench coats, just being a freak all the way.
I became.... A goth that day.
Chorus
But I couldn't be that pretentious or spiteful,
Didn’t' care about appearances of being beautiful.
didn't want Their style, Their bias, Their self-importance.
Any of that shit, So I said..."fuck off"
Verse
Still I swore, I'd find my own scene,
I wanted that more, than anything.
Found a group that seemed to have it all,
My punk-rock family that wouldn’t fall.
Got a Mohawk & patches on my jeans,
Lived by ideals and ethics within my means.
Listened to some music made some friends.
I'm a punk rocker my search was at an end, Whoa!
(Solo)
Chorus
But I was wrong again, they were all the same,
At each others throats, playing the same popularity game.
Didn't want their Uniform, Their attitudes or double-standards.
Any of that shit, So I said....."Fuck Off"
Verse
We have the power to be who we be,
To make the kind of world that we wanna see.
So come on, get out of your pretty little box,
I don't care if you’re a punk,hick, hippy, or goth.
I just want me to be me, and you to be you
And us to be free.
from the government and media that’s so shallow
and the diatribe that we just won't swallow.
The dissent that we sew.
Against the system, that keeps us, keeps us from running this whole SHOOOOOOOWHOOOOOO
AAAAA-OOOOHHH
AAAAA-OOOOHHH
YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!
